The day black people stop using the word “nigger” to refer to each other is the day I will class it as a derogatory word to describe black people…
Big Brother cuts close to the bone of Middle Britain again as a “racist” comment was passed to a black woman. MP Steve Vaz jumped straight on the band wagon (the UK equivalent of Jack Thompson in my opinion.. i think they’re fuck buddies) and called for Big Brother to be banned… again..
The problem lies in the context the word was used, and ones take on that. I warn you, if you’re easily offended by racist language I’d look away now - I’m certainly not going to make any racist comments, I’m just using language to get my point across…
If one were to say “you fucking nigger”, thats clearly racist as the context you’ve used it in is one of aggression and is derogatory by nature.
But if one was to say “yo nigger” its used in a non offensive manner, in replacement of mate, buddy, pal whatever, thats now acceptable. Nigger therefore becomes almost a compliment or a sign of friendship.. black people are comfortable using the word “nigger” around each other, and in this Hip Hop Cool culture we live in, the word nigger has been lifted to a new status of respect, even being used by white folk wanting to be “gangster” from the ghetto and black, commonly referred to as Wiggers by black people. See Horses comments below for how accepted it is!
The trouble is its a matter of respect, almost Japanese in its demand for correct contextual usage. Just like wrongly using -san, -kun, or -chan with someones name in Japanese would be deemed grossly disrespectful, the word nigger should also be looked at in this context, rather than just of racial nature.
Current Terms of Acceptable Usage
Black to Black - ok
Black to White - ok because the black person is almost complimenting the whitey by saying they’re good enough to be black
White to Black - not ok unless within a close knit group of friends and its clearly understood “nigger” means friend
White to White - ok for Wiggers, unless in the presence of black people, then not ok
And this is what makes the word so hypocritical. A word that descends from black in Latin (Niger) that has been falsely used in a derogatory sense for too long and black people want it back..
Unfortunately it’s not quite Black and White (hideous pun) and the race boundary was “clearly breached” last night on Big Brother according to the Race Friendly Ofcom Guidelines. She might of meant it in the “friend” context (and she made a meal out of her explanation of this) but she’s know her all of 5 days and that was the difference… that and shes quite obviously a posh twat and in no way, shape or form a “G”….
Thinking of Latin translations, the word for white in Latin is “niveus” close enough to Nivea i.e. the sun block, and their intentions to keep your skin white. Why don’t you just change your logo to a Swastika and be done with it.. racist sons of bitches…
