Me Vs D-Link DP-300U Feat. Star TSP600 Printer - Success story on the print server…
This is more of a Google helper than anything and filed under technical support but today I got a TSP600 Parallel printer working on a print server (D-Link DP-300U)… and what a fucking ball ache it was too.
This… this fucking stupid menu is the cause of all my problems. User Printing Control… USER FUCKING PRINTING CONTROL by MAC address no less, is set as ON by DEFAULT!!!!
I mean Jesus H Christ… what a shit load of fucking donkey balls. By default, this D-Link wants to know every single MAC address of connected devices you want to allow to print on your network… this is obvious surely?!!?
I mean obviously you’d want to have the ability to authorise every connected device on a wired network for a printer.. rogue printers on networks need to be filtered… I mean they could go right ahead and print 1000 page documents and waste vital toner/ink otherwise. What a fucking stupid security design feature…
This wasted 2 hours of my time… if you are using this piece of shit print server just be aware that you need to either turn this shit off or find the MAC address of every device on your network for a shit load of entering…. dicks!
