Recycling in the UK is absolute bollocks. It’s another case of us getting severely shafted for some other fucklords gain. Germany, for example, is a major recycler, and I found this out in a major way at Breakpoint ‘04. They ask you to pay a deposit on bottles of any form and get it returned to you when you take it back. Typical of this country, that cost is built into the value of the item, then some other fucker gets it when you recycle it. Same with cans, glass jars and all that goes into that lovely Green Tub we’ve been given in the name of Saving the Planet. Well to enforce this cashback the council gets for the minimal of efforts, the BBC reports of Recycling Police to inspect your green bin, and fucking charge you if you’re not recycling properly!! You’ll even get a lesson in Correct Recycling too!

Now I don’t pay £125 a month in council tax because I think our local council are really great guys and that I love taxation. I pay it to, amongst the other bullshit, have my bins collected every week. I’ve paid for the disposal service so you can get fucked if I’m going to go to any extra efforts to recycle. If you want to sift through my garbage to cash in on the items I’ve chosen to throw away, good for you, but why are we letting ourselves be reprimanded for not helping the council turn trash into cash and still paying for the privilege?

This country never does anything for the sake of doing it; its always comes back to be a revenue stream else we wouldn’t bother. Novelis are the biggest aluminium drinks can recycler in Europe and valued at $6 Billion US Dollars. They have the perfect business model; the raw materials are essentially free and given to them by general ignorance, you turn that into pure aluminium profit to sell back to the government in the form of sheets to the aviation industry at a grossly overinflated price. Its genius.

My local council started with the two bins and the bag. A Black bin for any old shite, the Green Bin for garden waste and cardboard and a Blue Bag for paper and magazines. They then introduced the black box for glass, tin cans and aluminium, the money spinner for the council.. and I’ll bet thats the first place the council minions will be looking, wont it.

So, in protest, I am going to stop using the plastic box provided for my cans and bottles and collect them myself in black bin liners, simply taking them to the local tip to get thrown right in the waste section. No Recycling. No breaking this new Recycle or Die law local councilors are harping on about. No Problems. My local tip is a 3 minute drive away… why the fuck would I risk a fine and a patronising “education” when I have no interest in the financial gain of my local council hidden by saying you’re helping save the planet, or any interest of helping save this fuckhole country.
